About this website

A lot of people ask me: "Why do you take shipphotos?". That´s hard to explain. It all started a lot of years ago on the East Frisian Island Juist. While I spend my holiday there I watched the ships pass by - but they were far away. Some day I visited Cuxhaven to see the ships in detail. That day I started taking pictures of ships. First I thought I would be the only crazy one - but I met a lot of other people with the same interest.

Most of the pictures shown here have been taken at the river Elbe (essentially in Cuxhaven, Stadersand, Lühe & Hamburg). For some alternation I also visit the Netherlands, Kiel-Canal and some other german ports to take pictures.

In 2001 I started this homepage with only a few pictures. With the years I got more and more pictures but last year I stopped this website because of picture-theft. Hence this relaunch contains new copyright-conditions: saving my pictures on your computer is not allowed to you any more. If you wish to get some pictures for private or commercial use have a look at my pictures at alamy. The picture you wish to buy is not listed there? - Feel free to get in contact with me and ask for the conditions. You can find my email-adress in the Imprint.

With the years my equipment grew as well, today I mainly use:

The information provided below the shipphotos originate from Lloyd´s Register of Ships, equasis.org and the classification societies.
